It is an antioxidant that neither colour nor discolour. It is used for white and light products as rubber, latex, petrochemicals, plastics, fiber as in the paint-and-lacquer industry and in others also. It is nontoxic, unvolatile, and stable at storage. It is readily soluble in alcohol, acetone, ethyl acetate, carbon tetrachloride and benzene, hardly soluble in petrol, practically water- insoluble
