SPP JSC RECEIVED A COMPREHENSIVE ENVIRONMENTAL PERMIT

Sterlitamak Petrochemical Plant JSC, part of Ruschem JSC holding, has received a Comprehensive Environmental Permit (CEP), an environmental authorization document issued with regard to compliance of production with the principles of the best available technologies.

Comprehensive environmental permits have been received for both sites of SPP JSC: production of isoprene and synthetic rubbers, as well as production of petrochemical products and copolymer rubbers.

The comprehensive environmental permit covers mandatory requirements: technological standards, standards for permissible emissions into the atmosphere, standards for waste generation and limits on their placement, as well as a program for industrial environmental control.

A lot of work has been done at SPP JSC to receive CEP: an audit of production processes for compliance with the current requirements of environmental legislation has been carried out. An assessment of production sites as objects of technological rationing and an inventory of emission sources and waste accumulation sites has been carried out. Programs of measures have been developed to reduce emissions of pollutants during periods of adverse weather conditions, as well as programs of industrial environmental control for each production site. Comprehensive environmental permits were issued by the South Ural Interregional Directorate of Rosprirodnadzor to Sterlitamak Petrochemical Plant JSC for a period of 7 years.

Obtaining a comprehensive environmental permit is only part of the activities of SPP JSC in the field of environmental protection. In January 2024, within the framework of the federal program “Clean Air”, a tripartite agreement was signed on cooperation in carrying out measures to reduce emissions of substances into the atmosphere, install automatic control systems, and develop an air quality monitoring system. The company invests in modern equipment for cleaning emissions into the atmosphere - this is the modernization of the general plant flare unit, the reconstruction of which made it possible to reduce steam consumption and increase the completeness of gas combustion. Phased modernization associated with the replacement of existing pumps with an end seal with hermetic pumps with a double end seal is carried out annually. One of the key projects of the plant is currently the technical re-equipment of the rubber production line in the E-2 workshop - as a result of the modernization, the quality of the final product has increased, and the amount of wastewater has significantly decreased.

“We consistently adhere to an environmental strategy to reduce our impact on the environment, which includes important projects to reduce emissions and improve environmental efficiency. Obtaining a comprehensive environmental permit confirms that the enterprise complies with all requirements of the environmental legislation of the Russian Federation,” notes Vladimir Sheludchenko, HSE, industrial safety and environmental protection director.
