History

The Sterlitamak Petrochemical Plant was established in 1958 as a pilot production facility within the Sterlitamak Synthetic Rubber Plant. On December 28th, 1963 the first pilot batch of isoprene rubber SKI-3 was obtained. This day is considered to be the date of foundation of the Plant.

In the history of domestic petrochemistry, the Plant is known as the ancestor of the isoprene rubber production. In 1965, the first batches of light isoprene rubber were obtained which is now used in the consumer goods and food industry. Thanks to the successful work of the Sterlitamak Petrochemical Plant in terms of production of isoprene rubber several similar plants were built in the country using the technology of Sterlitamak chemical engineers.

Production has grown and developed and already in 1966 the pilot production from the Sterlitamak Synthetic Rubber Plant was allocated into an independent Pilot Industrial Plant SKI-3. It was an experimental base of the synthetic rubber industry at which together with the fine-tuning of new technological processes the construction of industrial facilities for the production of petrochemical products was carried out. In 1976, the Pilot Industrial Plant SKI-3 was renamed into Pilot Petrochemical Plant, and in 1991 to the Sterlitamak Petrochemical Plant.

From the very first days of existence an active work was carried out at the enterprise on the development of competitive technological processes, the creation of new industries and the production of new types of products, and the maintenance of the export potential of existing products. Accordingly, in 1967 a new generation of liquid low molecular weight isoprene-divinyl rubbers of PDI brand has been created and developed by industry which had no analogues abroad. In 1970, the first batch of bright phenolic antioxidant Agidol-1 and a hardener for IMTHPA (isomethyl tetrahydrophthalic anhydride) epoxy resins were obtained using the technologies developed by its own research and development center that have no analogues in Russia. At the moment, the company has 64 active patents and 69 inventions.

Today, Sterlitamak Petrochemical Plant, Open Joint-Stock Company is one of the leading enterprises of the petrochemical complex of the Republic of Bashkortostan. In addition, it is the only enterprise in Russia producing phenolic antioxidants Agidol. Products of Sterlitamak Petrochemical Plant, JSC are used in the production of synthetic rubbers, plastics, fibers, lubricating and transformer oils, high-octane additives for gasoline, liquid rubbers, as well as in the feed, food and cosmetic industries around the world.

It has more than 30 items in the product portfolio. Focusing on end consumers the company produces high-tech products that can compete in foreign markets. These are styrene-butadiene rubbers, multi-purpose specialty chemicals, a high-octane fuel additive - MTBE, aviation and sports gasoline.

From August 11, 2011 a wide range of consulting services to the enterprise has been provided by LLC Management Company TAU NefteKhim.
