THE STERLITAMAK PETROCHEMICAL PLANT STARTED TO MARK ITS PRODUCTS WITH QR-CODETwo years ago as part of an import substitution project the production of the most popular grade of aviation gasoline Avgas 100 ll was launched at the industrial site of the Sterlitamak Petrochemical Plant. This fuel is used on small aircraft and helicopters with PAD in general aviation, for example by private pilots, during flight training, in flying clubs, for agricultural work and for commercial flights. Its quality is in no way inferior to foreign analogues which is confirmed by specialists from the specially certified laboratory of the company"s research center and by the Dutch laboratory Intertec. This allowed the company to successfully compete in the Russian and international markets increasing its production capacity of aviation gasoline Avgas 100 ll from year to year expanding the range of clients. Like any phenomenon, competition has its positive and negative sides. The main ones are the need to maintain consistently high quality products and prevent fakes. After the release of the product into mass production, the compliance of its physico-chemical characteristics with the standards ASTM D910-11 and DEF STAN 91-90 is strictly controlled by the technical service of the enterprise according to the adopted algorithms. But countering fakes has a lot of options, so the task was to choose one acceptable for local production. From the existing ways to protect the company’s business reputation from falsification, a two-dimensional code (QR-code) was chosen in which information about the product is encoded using an image in two dimensions - in width and height. Such codes are good because they allow to accommodate a large amount of data, since thanks to a two-dimensional technology an area of just a few square centimeters accommodates up to several thousand characters. Now the developed QR code contains information about the manufacturer and the product, batch number and location, a link to the company"s official website where you can familiarize yourself with the product specification. Subsequently, it is planned to expand it in order to track the movement of each unit from the production shop to the warehouse and the specific buyer, thus facilitating the maintenance of product records. The great advantage of this marking method is the ability to read coded information through a smart phone or other gadget which has a special program installed on. Over the past two months, the extended coding of products in a test mode is carried out in the production shop H-2-3-7. On the barrels into which aviation gasoline is filled a label with unique digital information is pasted. The use of a QR-code for labeling products helps to protect it from counterfeit thereby protecting customers from buying counterfeit materials and forming their loyalty to the manufacturing company. |
