A SIGNIFICANT DATE IN THE HISTORY OF STERLITAMAK SYNTHETIC RUBBEROn September 28, 1970, the first briquette of SKI-3 isoprene rubber rolled off the plant conveyor in the I-5V workshop. Over the following years, the plant"s specialists continued to persistently search for ways to further increase production by changing technologies, carrying out reconstructions and modernizations. And today, the production of isoprene and synthetic rubber is already celebrating its 54th anniversary. In the post-war period, the demand for rubber increased sharply. Due to the high cost of natural rubber, as well as geopolitical factors, Soviet scientists were tasked with finding a synthetic analogue. After long scientific searches and fundamental research, scientists found a way to produce synthetic rubber, and in the late sixties of the last century the construction of synthetic rubber plants began, including in Sterlitamak. All subsequent years, the specialists of our plant continued persistent searches for ways to further increase production volumes by changing technologies, carrying out reconstructions and modernizations. The mechanism of operation of the whole enterprise was fine-tuned very precisely, which allowed not only to increase production capacity, but also to become one of the largest enterprises in the world for the production of synthetic rubber. In 1975, Sterlitamak isoprene rubber SKI-3 was awarded the State Quality Mark. Today, Sterlitamak Petrochemical Plant JSC, specializing in the production of high-quality butadiene-styrene and isoprene rubbers for general and special purposes, continues to develop dynamically and gain new production momentum. The production facility has established the production of isoprene rubbers of the following grades: SKI-3, SKI-3S, SKI-5, SKI-5PM and SKI-5D. In 2018, the first batch based on gadolinium catalyst was obtained. Isoprene rubber of the new generation is the most accurate synthetic analogue of natural rubber.
Throughout the entire period of the enterprise’s existence, the plant’s products have been in steady demand among consumers not only in Russia, but also all over the world. “This is a significant day for our enterprise, and I want to congratulate our workforce on this event. The high professionalism of our employees, scientific potential, achieved production indicators, high–quality products in demand all over the world are what we are rightfully proud of!” notes Dmitry Zhavoronkov, Director of isoprene and synthetic rubbers production. |
